just come back from a trip to Brazil (Iguazu, Rio, Buzios,
Victoria, Trancoso, Arraial, Porto Seguro, Itacare, Salvador)
and had to find that the usual big cities and tourist resorts have become incredibly expensive.
I myself live since 5 years in Canavieiras / Bahia, a sleepy little town from the glorious cocoa times and also with some national tourism
and here everything is still totally cheap!
Probably because the place is not known and situated at a dead end road.

This small city leads his authentic Bahian town life, quiet and cozy, the people are friendly and genuine -
it’s just thank God nothing spoiled by tourism.
The Caipi still costs anywhere from 4 to 6 reais, R $ 3 bottle of beer, there’s really good food for 2 persons from 20 reais in the city and the romantic harbor.

The attractions of Canavieiras are the many islands, 10 miles of palm beach
on the island of Atalaia, just outside the city – just go over the bridge, a 15 minutes walk.
